Our mission is to support the integration and advancement of research as a standard of care and standard of practice throughout the SHC enterprise, including, increasing clinician knowledge, understanding and involvement in research-related activities for the benefit of patients, families, and health care professionals.
Our goals include: improving research access, care experience, clinical practice, patient clinical outcomes—and, advancing health equity for all persons and communities we serve, including minoritized, diverse abilities, sexual orientation and gender identity, women, and others.

Project Consultations
Individual and group meetings to discuss a range of research-related topics. This can discussions on "Is it research?", methodology and design, protocol development, institutional review board (IRB), and project oversight.
Data Management
Guidance on data collection, preparation, and analysis. From descriptive statistics to inferential methods, we provide consultation on data management, data analysis, interpreting results, and writing-up the manuscript.
Funding Opportunities
Advice on identifying funding opportunities and completing grant applications. This includes both external funding and internal grants, such as the Stanford Nursing Alumnae Legacy Grant and the Friends of Nursing Scholarships & Grants.
Abstracts, Posters & Manuscripts
Feedback on abstracts and posters for professional conferences; review of manuscripts for journal submission with guidance on scientific writing, effective use of imagery and text, and mentorship in manuscript writing.

Our team is comprised of Ph-D prepared research scientists, nurse scientists, business, project and administrative specialists, and an executive leader.
The Office of Research Patient Care Services (ORPCS) builds on the traditions of academic nursing established over 100 years ago at Stanford University.

The Office of Research works as a synergized team to consult on a range of topics, including study design, data management, dissemination, and funding opportunities across the organization.
The Stanford Nurse Alumnae are the Stanford University liaison service that support nursing education and research at Stanford Health Care and contribute to the excellence of front-line clinical excellence.
Magnet Journey
Nursing research is fundamental to the delivery of science-based high-quality health care for patients. The Office of Research works closely with SHC and the Division of Nursing to support nursing inquiry as part of the Magnet© Journey. ORPCS provides an enterprise level research infrastructure that aligns with SHC Magnet© Designation.
